Results - Points Competition

9 members spent an enjoyable afternoon playing the points. And for the first time in recent memory all 10 disciplines were attempted.


Scoring 32 points Ali Macrae lifted the Claret Jug for the second year running. Peter Knoll was runner up with 31 points.

Fiona Fraser was the highest scoring lady with 28 points finishing fourth.

PS. Did you see 'Flog It!' on 20 November ? A Claret Jug identical to ours was featured. It was bought at a car boot sale in Ulster for £3 and then sold at auction. The experts summary concurred with our own research. (It was designed by Dr Christopher Dresser, a modernist before his time, between 1880 & 1885 for Hukin & Heath). Unmarked and because there is no silver it was valued between £200-400.

Results - Centenary Bonspiel

6 teams were on the ice yesterday afternoon.

By winning 3 games and with some excellent shot making in the final game Peter Knoll, Ian Kerr, Moira Morrison and Robin Bowden lifted the first silverware of the season. This left three rinks tied on 2 wins and 8 ends but Robert Shand, Phil Ward, Fiona Fraser and Neil Paterson were runners up on shots.

After the curling 18 members stayed on for Steak Pie and the presentation of the trophy and prizes.

Centenary Bonspiel

Here are the teams for our annual curl fest and social gathering on Sunday 5 November exactly as drawn.

The curling will start at 2.30pm when we will play two games of four ends. You'll be glad to hear I have arranged for us all to have time to come off for drink and a heat for 20 mins before we return to the ice and play a further two four end games.

This means the evening meal (Steak Pie & Apple Strudel) will be served about 7.15pm with the award of the trophy quickly thereafter.

Your support for the 44th running of this Bonspiel is very much appreciated.

Season 2017/18

Welcome Brother and Sister Curlers to the new Season.

You should now all have received your membership pack through the door. If not please get in touch with the Secretary.

The clubs first games are on Tuesday 19 September at 6.15pm. There will be a Skips Meeting held afterwards at 8.30pm. All Winter Skips are required to attend.

Our President actively encourages Skips to rotate positions so less experienced Curlers can benefit from the challenge.

Please support the Club as best you can and regularly check the notice board and website for news, updates, results and all competition information.

Winter League Champions

By winning their penultimate game before Christmas Norman Bruce, James Florance, Robin Bowden and Fiona Glascodine were crowned Winter League Champions this evening. Well done them.
